Yoosta Be A Yooper: Buddy DeYoung, Best Zookeeper Ever?

WALLACE - Up the road 20 miles from Menominee sits a 40-acre parcel of land with more wildlife than you'll see for hundreds of miles. We're not talking about rabbits, deer and chipmunks; we're talking lions, camels, monkeys and more. The DeYoung Zoo is celebrating its 25th year and it comes with an incredible honor. National Geographic has launched a new network called Nat Geo WILD. Its first showcase special will feature zoo owner Buddy DeYoung and his partner Carrie Cramer. The show, titled "My Life is a Zoo," will be shown at 9 p.m. (CT) April 26 on Time/Warner Cable Channel 141.

Well, I'll be damned. I haven't been to the DeYoung Zoo since I was like 8 when it was just crazy old Buddy DeYoung living in a trailer with his wife and 6 Bengal Tigers. But it seems that he has made quite a living for himself and has National Geographic knocking down his door these days. I just hope they get a few shots of him scooping up roadkill on the side of highway 577 to feed the big cats. And they better not skip over the story of him being nearly mauled to death by one of his mountain lions. Shit is Nat Geo gold.

PS - I don't know how I feel about my mother living 20 miles away from a bunch of large predatory cats in the hands of a borderline retard.
