2010 NHL Playoff Preview

Tonights the night we've all been waiting for. The NHL playoffs kick off with the Wings taking on the Phoenix Coyotes in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. For the first time in a long time, the Wings are seeded below their first round opponent and will have to start the series on the road. Puck drops in Phoenix at 10:00pm EST. Gonna be real tired at work tomorrow. In fact, I'm gonna go find a janitor's closet and take a nap so I can stay awake tonight.

But first lets get to some playoff previews, shall we...

Beasts of the East

Round 1:

Caps over Canadians in 4

Flyers over NJ in 6

Buff over Boston in 5

Pens over Sens in 4

Round 2:

Caps over Flyers in 5

Stanley Cup Finals:

Wings over Caps in 7

As many good teams as there are in the NHL, this is really only a 5 team race. You got the Sharks, Hawks, Wing, Caps, and Pens. That's it. Some other teams will hopefully upset a few of these front runners so the Wings don't have to take out the Sharks, Hawks, and Pens/Caps in that order but if that's what the situation calls for I wouldn't put it passed them to pull it off. It's really gonna come down to goaltending and whether or not Howard can replicate in the playoffs what he has done down the stretch. And people keep asking what if he can't? Well it's simple, we just pull out a hockey stick and smash the "break in case of an emergency" glass that we keep in front of Ozzie. So start growing them playoff beards cause there's nothing I love more than facial hair and champagne in early June.
