Spring Training Is Over. Go Back To Work

Tiger's finished up their spring training games in Florida today with a split squad session against Houston and Atlanta. Both wins. Yeah D. Lets wrap this thing up and get our heads straight for the reg. After a stop in Milwaukee for two nights, its off to KC to start the season on Monday against Zach Greinke and the Royals. I've never really felt comfortable in baby blue, but I kinda dig what the Royals are putting together this season, so watch out. Greinke, Billy Butler, basically the whole goddamn squad, have been tiger killers for years now. 9-9 against us last season. One of those losses could have put us in the post season. So lets not have a 0-7 start and a sweep by the Royals in week 1 like 2007.

Congratulations to Don Kelly for snatching up the 25th roster spot by the way. Dude is called a "super utility player" because he can play 3 outfield positions along with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd base. Kelly also hit a home run today in the win over Atlanta and is batting .364 in 21 spring training games. This spot would have gone to Clete Thomas if he wasn't suffering from a deep bone bruise from taking a pitch to the shoulder last Thursday. He's been back taking batting practice fora few days now but says he still can't throw. The last thing we need is two outfielders with arms like Lamar from Revenge of the Nerds (I'm looking at you Damon). Expect to see Thomas on and off again this season. He was hitting .389 in 14 spring training games and has proven speed. Plus his name is Clete. Dude is meant to play.
