Ernie Harwell Dies At Age 92 - Black Tuesday Begins
Just before the first pitch last night Tigers broadcasting legend, Ernie Harwell, died at age 92 of bile duct cancer. His inevitable death didn't come as a surprise to Tiger fans but that certainly didn't make it any easier when the news was delivered. Besides being the most classic baseball announcer to ever live, Ernie was a complete class act that gave so much to the people of Michigan. He was the rock on which Tigers Baseball was built. He will be greatly missed but his voice will ring on forever throughout the concourse of Comerica Park and in the hearts of Michiganders.
Good Night Sweet Prince
