Tiger Beat: Tigers Agree with Long Duk Dong who says, "No More Yankees My Wankee"

Tigers W 5-4, 18-14 overall, 3.5 games behind the Twins
Tigers took down the big boys from the big city last night and they didn't even need a starting pitcher to do it. Brad Thomas, our version of the Thunder from Down Under, got the start thanks to Dontrelle coming down with a 102 degree fever over night. Whatever, everyone gets sick, the only thing that worries me is that missing starts is the first sign of a much worse disease, known in medical circles as "the fucking crazies". I'm just saying, I wouldn't be totally surprised if I saw a picture of Dontrelle, draped in a garbage bag and pushing around a grocery cart looking for plastic bottles in a week or so. Eddie Bonine got the win and honestly, I'm starting to look at this guy as an actual baseball player. Damon served up a cool solo home run last night as well, since everyone knows that's the best way to serve up a plate of revenge. "Fuck the Yankees, those rich bitches with their fancy uniforms," is what I pictured Damon saying after the game. This of course did not happen in real life. Brendan Boesch, who is apparently more than one of the Mason's favorite Tigers, also killed it again with a 2 out 2 RBI single early on in the game. The dude is making the most of his chances, both offensively and defensively, and its going to be hard to say goodbye to him when and if Guillen ever comes back.
The play of the game went to Ordonez though. With two outs and men on 1st and 3rd in the top of the 8th, Ryan Perry served up a ball to Jeter that started tailing as it made it way to right field. Ordonez took off and in standard sliding style, made the catch. "He had a good break on the ball," Leyland said. "He was smart enough to kick it in gear because he knew it was tailing away. He couldn't time that ball. He couldn't one-gate that ball. He had to go get it, and that's what he did."

  1. Does Magglio not bend at the waist?! I don't get it. Sliding to catch a ball next to your ear seems like the same thing as reaching down to catch it - just WAY more difficult. He sucks. Now Boesch - guy is a straight masher - LOVE him.
