U of M Just Got Made

Let's give it to Rich Rod. Love him, hate him or want his family dead you gotta give him credit. He just pulled probably the best safety in the country outta his ass and all anyone wants to do is bitch. Drew Sharp, that blowhard, waste of space sports writer for the Detroit Free Press threw his stones this morning in a self-righteous article about how Rich Rod is only one incident away from blowing the untarnished reputation of Michigan Athletics with the signing of Demar Dorsey. Here are some excerpts.

Drew wrote,
He comes equipped with all the competitive essentials -- good speed, size and football instincts. But he apparently also comes to the Wolverines with some unwelcome baggage -- arrests for robbery with a deadly weapon as a 16-year-old and burglary of an unoccupied building when he turned 17 the next month. On the first charge, he was acquitted. The second charge was dropped.

All right Drew, lets take a closer look at what this actually says. I'm guessing the deadly weapon they are referring to is probably his 4.4 speed and I'm actually excited that he likes unoccupied buildings cause I couldn't find any maize and blue in the Big House during the OSU game. I'll fuckin take my chances considering Dorsey could be wearing leg shackles and will still do a better job in coverage than Morgan Trent. Oh, and I guess I'm not reading this right, but doesn't it say he was acquitted and the charges were dropped?

Anyway, Drew then asked Rich
Why assume an unnecessary risk on this player? What's the point?

Um, I don't know Drew... I for the life of me can't figure out why he would go after one of the top defensive playmakers in all the land? It couldn't be cause all you idiot, assholes at the Free Press ever do is go tattling to the pussies at espn every time Rich Rod takes a shit and doesn't replace the toilet paper in Schembechler Hall, could it?

Might it be cause the Freep broke a story about Rich running the team too hard and making them do wall sits to all hours of the night until some douche couldn't handle it and decided it wasn't voluntary anymore? Give me a fuckin break, I used to hurl on a daily basis in Pop Warner cause my coach Romie was a psycho and pushed us hard. And guess what, we dominated too. In reality Michigan was only doing exactly the same shit that every other big time college football program or any legit Pop Warner team does.

Or there is always the possibilty that Rich Rod's decision to go after Dorsey was affected when the Detroit News created a non story about how Rich Rod received a shady bank loan from, the Bill Martin founded, Bank of Ann Arbor who in reality owned the mortgages to 7 other Michigan coaches' homes, including our saintly John Beilein.

It definitely coulda been the "wizard selling snake oil persona" that Purdue's Joe Tiller adorned upon Rich Rod and the Michigan media ran with.

Or I'm thinkin it even coulda been when every Lloyd recruit bailed ship the first year and Rich Rod looked around and saw a college version of the Detroit Lions staring back at him. Or at the very least, the very very least, it had to be the shit-fit that Wolverine fans threw when he gave away the #1 jersey to a freshman.

Every last one of these things had an effect on Rich's decision to give Dorsey a chance. And I hope this kid pays him back. I hope for once shit works out for Rich. Football players aren't perfect people, neither are football coaches. I think you just gotta give the guy the benefit of the doubt and let him make his bed and lay in it. If it starts to stink than we know he shit the bed. But at least take the diaper off and let him do it right. Don't hate on the guy for going out and bringing in a recruit who might help turn the program around just because he could tarnish what all the Wolverine faithful consider to be their God given right to be the best and most pristine program in the nation. The real rub of it all is that if Rich hadn't landed this guy, shit really woulda hit the fan. I can just hear them now, talking about how Rich was supposed to be this master recruiter whose arm stretched to parts of the country old Lloyd didnt even know existed. Without Dorsey they'd be screaming about his inability to bring in any big time playmakers. You just don't get to have your cake and eat it too, Drew. Give me this kid and save your self righteous bullshit for another day. The Detroit media helped create the Rich Rod we now know, so they gotta deal with it.
