Stones Are Looking To Play The Lottery More Than Justin Batey
VS
So explain this to me, how do you lose to a team that is finishing up a 3 game road swing on the opposite side of the country? I thought NBA teams always mailed it in on the final game of a road trip. Especially when that team entered the game with a 4-22 road mark. Whatever, apparently the Pistons are the cure for just about any problem that an NBA team can have.
But, I guess I’ll look at some of the details. So after watching the game and looking over the Kings’ roster I found myself jealous of the make-up of their team. Their starting 5’s average age is 22 and it just seems like they’ve got some talent to grow and improve around.
Compare that to what the Piston’s are doing right now. Our starting 5, which currently includes a rookie and a second year guy, still has an average age of 28. It’s no wonder that injuries have become every Detroit fans favorite scapegoat for the worst season in about a Decade.
So what’s the solution? I don’t know, maybe we start by burning Austin Daye’s redshirt so that we can start developing our first round draft pick on the court instead of behind closed doors at practice. I’m not saying Daye is going to get us more wins coming out of the All-Star break, I just think it’s obvious at this point that we aren’t going to compete for Championships with a core built around Rip, Tayshaun, and Ben Wallace. Lets focus on getting the young guys their reps, throw away the second half of the season like we did the first, and cross our fingers for a shot at Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins in the lottery.
