Sparky Anderson Not Doing Well
Everywhere you look you'll find people who love and respect Sparky. My first and only encounter with him was when my Dad took me and my brothers to batting practice before a game at old County Stadium in Milwaukee. We had stayed at the same hotel as the Tigers over the weekend and had a ball signed by the entire team except for Sparky. We made our way to the end of the dugout and my Dad called out Sparky's name and tossed him the ball. The throw was pretty shitty and it bounced off the roof and rolled under a bench at the back of the dugout. Sparky walked down, got on his hands and knees and fished the ball out. Then signed it and walked it over to us. I thought that was pretty cool when I was 8 and I still do now.
PS - If you don't have a personal story involving Sparky then you should just listen to this rant and you'll instantly love him. Be sure to put on the headphones though.
