Garnett's statement claims that he didn't call Villanueva a "cancer patient," but rather said, "You are cancerous to your team and our league." The statement goes on to add, "I would never be insensitive to the brave struggle that cancer patients endure. I have lost loved ones to this deadly disease."
I got no problem with what athletes say in the heat of the moment cause it's part of the game. I used to call everyone a cock sucker anytime I train tracked them in Pee Wee hockey and it was the thing that gave me the upper hand. Cancer patient is a bit of a stretch but totally within bounds cause Charlie V does look like a cancer patient. But for Garnett to say it and then make up some bullshit about how he said Charlie was a cancer to the team is the weakest thing I've ever heard. Stand by your shit talking or stop talking shit Garnett. All you do is run your mouth so be responsible for what comes out of it.
Best thing he could've done here is say, "what is said on the court, stays on the court". Boom, controversy over. Then all the talking heads like myself wouldn't shit on you at all, and instead focus on Charlie V being a bitch for calling you out. But when you come out with some sob story about how you know people who have died from cancer and that you would never say something like that, then you look like a complete fuckin d-bag. I grew up on the best sports movie of all time, Slapshot, where banging an opposing goalies girlfriend and then finding out she's a lesbian is common place. Plus if Hammerhan ever bitched about it on Twitter you know Paul Newman would've claimed every word of it. Take some fuckin notes Kevin.
