The Schwartz Tight Lipped About Stafford's Shoulder
ALLEN PARK - Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz refused to address a report that the initial test results on quarterback Matthew Stafford showed a Grade 3 separation of his right shoulder injury. During an appearance on a radio show this morning, Schwartz said, "We don't share results of MRIs or anything else with members of the media or anybody else other than the player and the staff here. "Matt wasn't able to finish the game; he was very sore, and we'll get him back on the field as soon as we can. And that's been our approach with reporting injuries from the very beginning."
With Stafford most likely having a 3rd degree shoulder separation we won't be seeing him any time soon and that sucks the big one. I don't know what's worse though, the fact that we have to play the remainder of the season without him or that he's nothing more than a 60 million dollar china vase that can't make it through the better part of a season. As soon as he went down, BMOC texted me "should we draft Mallett?". He wasn't too far off. I don't know how many more years you can ride a guy who gets hurt more often than he wins.
PS - I like The Schwartz, I really do, but he looks like a fuckin idiot when he locks up the Lions' injury report tighter than Fort Knox. Stafford isn't Peyton Manning and teams aren't gameplanning just for him. Acting like they are makes him seem out of touch with reality.
