Straight In The Face

Freep - Wearing 11 stitches above his left eye, Detroit Tigers outfielder Brennan Boesch sat at his locker this morning and said he felt fine, two days after he got hit in the face by a wind-blown fly ball he was trying to catch in rightfield. "This isn't going to slow me down," Boesch said. "My vision is fine. The only reason I'm not playing today is the training staff wants to give me one day for the swelling to go down. My upper eye is still a little bit swollen."

I almost forgot to mention that during the pre-exhibition exhibition against Florida Southern the other day Brennan Boesch took a fly ball straight off the kisser in the outfield. I didn't know if it was newsworthy at the time but turns out the dude needed 11 stitches. Maybe we can get Smalls to play outfield if nobody else can do it.
