"Houston. We Have A Corner"
Detroitnews - The Lions continued to address their deficiencies on defense, trading for Falcons cornerback Chris Houston on Sunday, ESPN reports. The Lions reportedly sent the Falcons a sixth-round pick and the teams also flip-flopped fifth-round picks. Houston, 25, was a second-round pick (No. 41 overall) by the Falcons in 2007. He's started 37 games in three seasons and has three interceptions and 166 tackles.
The Lions continue to swap out their entire secondary in an effort to not give up a league high 494 points again next season. This weekend they traded for Chris Houston, who was considered a can't miss shutdown corner prospect when he came out of Arkansas in 2007. Things haven't exactly gone his way so far but with a fresh start in Detroit I think we might get some decent production out of him. It has always been known that he has the physical tools and if he ever decides to turn his head and look back for a ball he might end up with more than a pick a year. If nothing else, dude is showtime as fuck and will look great chasing people from behind next to Delmas.
PS - With Buchanon cut and Will James and Anthony Henry unrestricted free agents, I was starting to wonder who was gonna play corner for us this year. Good to see The Schwartz is addressing the issue.
