The Wings went out and beat down our favorite punching bag the Chicago Blackhawks today in grand fashion. After spotting the Hawks 2 goals in the first period the Wings came out and fisted Cristobal Huet with 5 goals in the second, running him outta his home barn. The crowning moment was when Datsyuk picked Kane's pocket and skated the length of the ice for the winning goal with 2 seconds left in the second. It's good to know that no matter how much love Kane gets from the hockey media, datsyuk still owns his ass on any given day.
After Nashville lost to Vancouver today the Wings are a point out of the 7th playoff spot and are three points up on Calgary for the 8th spot. I also love the fact that the Wings are 2-2-1 against the Blackhawks and are 3-0-1 against the Sharks this season. Babcock said it best in his post game comments...
“The good teams in the league are hoping that we don’t get into the seventh and eighth spot.”
Fuckin understatement of the century. I'm already busy designing this years Cup ring.
I got home from work yesterday just in time to watch the Wings hang a nickle on the Blackhawks in the second period. I agree with your assessment of Babcok's post game comments.
