Wet 'N Wild Weekend Of Wins

Tigers v. Phils, Friday, Rained Out

Easy Andy, drinking acid rain to get fucked up is just an urban legend.

Tigers (SS) v Yankees (SS), W 6-2, Saturday

Back on Saturday, the Tigers decided to let Johnny Damon show the Yankees exactly what they gave. With an RBI single in the first and a solo home run in the 4th, Damon put the smack down on the Yanks all by himself, old school boston style. Its nice to know that next time we play the Bronx Bombers in a must-win series in the middle of the season to stay in the pennant race like we did 2 years ago, we'll have someone loaded up on the same steroids they give their guys. I sort of view Johnny Damon as a cyborg sent to Detroit from the future. Strange I know, but with a beard and some Oakley sunglasses, dude is in discussions to play a robot in the next Terminator. Ryan Rayburn also went 4-4. Catch a flyball and we'll give you some more coverage ok RR?

(SS) for those of you who don't know means split squad. This was basically starter v starter. We had our rooks over at the Mets game.

Mets v. Tigers, L 9-1, Saturday

Not much too much to say about this one. We sent Mags, Gullien, and Sizemore over to take care of the Mets, but we underestimated them. Which is surprising because I didn't think there was any room between the Mets and NL East cellar.

Tigers v. Rays, W 9-6 Sunday

Boom goes the dynamite! Tigers put on an offensive show here, led by AJAX (the new official name of Austin Jackson, you heard it here first!) who had a lead off single in the 1st and two triples later in the game. All three hits turned into runs. This is what we need from our lead off spot. Granderson who? Mags, Damon, and Larish all had RBI blasts.

The Rest Of The Story

The best story of this weekend was how the Tiger's pitching staff decided to get all nasty at the same time. Shit was off the hook this weekend. I know, a positive story about pitching? Doesn't seem right, but lets just look at some of these outings this weekend.

In the Yankee Game, we've got Willis, Bonderman, Robertson, and Valverde. Looking at this rotation before the game started (besides Valverde of course), I probably would have thrown up. But guess what? They fucking killed it!

Willis 3 IP, 4 H, 1 R.
Bondo 3 IP, 4 H, 1 R.
Robertson 2.0, 0 H, 0 R, 3 SO !!!!!
Valverde 1.0 IP 2H, 0 R, 1BB, 3 SO (This is what we call the Rodney Special)

Willis is about to become my boy. I've never wanted to see a comeback kid so bad. Robertson apparently got a new prescription for his glasses this weekend, cus the dude is making Ricky Vaughn look like a piece of shit, and Bondo gave us the performance we've been hoping for. And this was against a strong Yankee line up (jeter, tex, arod, all the big names were there). But guess what? We're not done yet!

In the Mets game, Ryan Perry got shellacked. 0.2 IP, 5 H, 7 R, 3 HRs. Awful, but we'll chalk it up to an off day. Miner came in, gave up 2 runs, but the dude is basically a pitching janitor, just comes in and cleans up fucking messes. He did have 2 SO in 1.1 IP. The story of this game was Scherzer. I jumped all over this guy last week when he fucking looked like a high school pitcher last time he was out. But this time, he had everything working for him. Dude gave up 1 hit in 4.0 IP. He had 5 strike outs and no walks. I watched the highlights of this game and through 4 he was dominant. Oliver followed it up with 2 innings of 1 hit ball. The was against a strong Mets squad, if there is such a thing....

Finally, and to cap off the weekend, you've got Porcello blowing the fucking doors of the place against the Rays. 2 hits and no runs in 4 innings. Dude is about to have a Verlander like season. We had everyone in the world pitch after that including Coke, Bonine, Schlereth, Zumaya, Ni, and Weinhardt. Everyone did well except Schlereth who gave up 3 hits and 4 runs in one-third of an inning, but you know what? Who gives a shit because the rest of these guys are gearing up for opening day.

3 weeks fellas.
