Yoosta Be A Yooper: Bart Yoo Betcha!
Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), who has long raised objections to health care reform based on his anti-abortion stance, said on Thursday that he and several other House members plan to dig in their heels again and may not vote for the final bill. We're not going to vote for this bill with that kind of language," Stupak said on ABC's "Good Morning America," a reference to language included in the Senate health bill that Stupak and 11 other Democrats say is not tough enough when it comes to limiting federal funding for abortions.
It's not very often that we get all political here at Joeyballgame but I had to mention that our one and only Yooper Representative, Bart Stupak is becoming sort of a big deal these days. Bart's face has been all over the place because he is causing a big stink about his ethical issues with abortion and is prepared to vote down the entire health care bill if it doesn't very clearly limit federal funding for abortions.
I for one hope health care gets passed but I also understand a man's right to his opinion and I respect him for at least sticking to it when shit has gotten rough. It doesn't surprise me though, I've known Bart since I was like 2 and dude has always been a beast. We used to go down to Milwaukee and go to the Tiger/Brewers series back when they were in the American League. My dad and Bart would get jagged up and toss me and my brothers from wall to wall all over our hotel room at the Pfister. Shit was a lot of fun.
PS - The Tigers would always stay at the Pfister too and one year we had a ball signed by the entire active roster, i mean everybody from Skeeter Barnes to Sparky Anderson. And when I asked Cecil to sign it he pulled a huge stoagie out of his mouth and told me to hang on. Then he checked out of the hotel and ran his fat ass right past me and onto the bus. I'm still pissed about it.
