I couldn't let this one slip by without a little comment. It has everything you wanna see in a good hockey clip. A mild cheap shot, broken bones, and a dead Blackhawk. Ovechkin was later suspended for the next two games for this hit which I can live with. The one major unspoken rule in hockey is you don't push someone who is defenseless into the boards. There is also an unspoken rule that you don't put yourself in a defenseless position but either way, being the best player in the world you gotta know better than this. I guess Russia doesn't have those "Heads Up, Don't Duck" posters plastered all over their rinks that warn players of the dangers of checking from behind. Barbaric.
Even though the 2 game suspension was probably justified it only really came down cause the dude broke his collar bone and a shit ton of ribs. And how bout the Hawks just letting Ovechkin get away with this. Not one guy went over to even blow him a kiss after. You wanna see how you are supposed to act when one of your teammates gets owned then watch these college kids.
PS - I don't see anything wrong with this hit. Dude extended himself and tipped the puck just as he got blown up. You gotta pull off the puck when you see this freight train coming because if not you are practically asking this dude to cave your face in. But the brawl was still justified. You don't let one of your guys get destroyed like this, clean or otherwise, and just sit there with your thumb up your ass. Take note Hawks.

ReplyDeleteShit Mmase, one of my historic old school hockey hits I remember....Is when you left your feet in the netural zone right in front of our bench and fucking destroyed that huge Manitowoc defensemen...He had is head down and you fucking crushed that fucker......God I loved beating the shit out of those punk bitches from Manitowoc...One of my greatest hockey moments also came againest Manitowoc when I injured some kid with a cheap elbow to the head, and his father wanted to kill me after the game when we beat their ass and knocked them from going to the playoffs...Then Seth Anderson got off the ice right before me (and we do look alike while on the ice) and that kid's dad fucking bodyslammed him and a huge fucking brawl broke out between our team and their fans...Straight up fucking classic shit
