Sooo, My Birthday Is Coming Up
Detroitnews.com -- How much would you pay for a piece of the Tigers' 1984 World Series championship? Would you pay $5,000? That's the asking price on eBay for the World Series ring of former Tigers' infielder Doug Baker. As of Wednesday night, there were no bids on the ring, but the auction ends on Friday -- so there's time. If you have $5,000 to spend, that is. Or more if that's not the highest bid. Who was Doug Baker? He was a rookie role player on the 1984 Tigers, but role players were important. On that team, everyone was important. Baker hit .185 in 43 games with no home runs and 12 RBIs. But he started 31 games, all but four of them at shortstop -- so it's not as if he just came and went.
Whoa Doug Baker. Are you sure you wanna do this? He must be in it in a bad way. How do you sell your "Bless You Boys" ring for $5000 bucks? I'm hoping there is at least some legit reason for this like his cat needs surgery or his wife has to get her boob job redone cause they are starting to sag. Cause if there isn't then he is just taking a huge dump all over everything we love. But regardless, I gotta figure out a way to get my hands on this thing. The way I see it, I have 476 facebook friends and if everyone throws in $10.50 then we are there. C'mon Ballgamers lets make this happen.
PS - I think Darko should take a note from this guy and sell his World Championship ring as soon as possible while it still has some value. Cause that thing is worth a hell of a lot now but is only depreciating in value with each brick he throws up.
