The Team Formerly Known As The Detroit Shock Sign The Athlete Formerly Known As A Five Time Olympic Medalist

The Tulsa Shock will hold a news conference at noon today to announce the signing of former track star Marion Jones, according to ESPN.com. The Shock initially played in Detroit beginning in 1998 and won WNBA titles in 2003, 2006 and 2008. The team moved to Tulsa in November 2009. Jones was stripped of five medals she won in the 2000 Summer Olympics after she admitted using performance-enhancing drugs prior to the Summer Games in Sydney. Jones, 34, has not played basketball since she left North Carolina in 1997

This move happened a year to late for the Detroit Shock faithful. Woulda been a treat to see this roided up monster throwing down tomahawk dunks and windmill jams in the Palace every night, cause lets be honest we all know no one on the Pistons is gonna do it. And imagine the type of player she would've become under the tutelage of Bill Laimbeer and Rick Mahorn. Chick would be ripping off heads.

Check out Rick getting punched in the back at the :55 mark after he shoves Lisa Leslie to the ground. I love the, "bitch, are you crazy?" look he gives her afterwards.

PS - The real story here isn't Marion Jones coming back to play basketball, it's that they just blew over the fact that a 3 time WNBA champion was moved from Detroit to fuckin Tulsa. How many of these Mickey Mouse titles do they want us to win to keep our team. Shit, we won one in 2008 and they move us in 2009, how the hell does that work?

PSS - I guess today is Malace At The Palace Day, enjoy.
