Brain Trust Gets Busy
Detroitnews - The Lions promised to strike quickly as the clock struck midnight, signaling the start of free agency and a new league year in the NFL. Head coach Jim Schwartz was paying a visit to the home of defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch in Nashville promptly at 12:01 a.m., trying to lock up the team's primary target. And barely two hours into free agency, the team reportedly had one of the league's first free-agent deals done, acquiring receiver Nate Burleson. Burleson agreed to terms with the Lions on a five-year, $25 million deal, including $11 million guaranteed, a league source confirmed.
Damn Schwartz, fuckin 12:01am? I've heard people say that they will be on the phone the first minute of free agency trying to lock people down, but camping out in a tent in Vanden Bosch's front yard is taking it to the next level. I just hope Schwartz went all out and had a marching band and Roary doing back hand springs on the front lawn the second the clock struck midnight. Cause a new regime means a new way of doing things, and we all know that at 12:01am of past years Millen was watching year old Big Mike Williams game tape from USC.
In another quick striking move, the Lions agreed to a 5 year deal with Nate Burleson hoping to give Calvin some much needed help on the outside. I don't think Nate is anything special and no way I would want him as my #1 but if he doesn't have to line up across from top corners all year he should be able to make plays, which in turn will help Calvin get open more. But I would still take Scotty Anderson in his prime over Nate Burleson any day.
Scotty definitely still made this catch even after getting Hiroshima'd by this Packer DB
