Lions Have Diarrhea Of The Mouth
Second-year safety Louis Delmas, the team's defensive captain, is the latest Lion to make a prediction for the season. He wasn't quite as bold as former Lions QB, Jon Kitna who predicted 10 plus wins in 2007 and then went 6-10. "It's no surprise if we come out and get eight wins -- I won't be surprised at all," said Delmas. "We know we can do it. ... I know that we lost a lot of games on last drives last year." Delmas also believes that eight wins would all but assure the Lions a postseason berth. "If we get eight wins and don't make it to the playoffs, I'll be pissed," he said. "So that's what we're shooting for."
Suh also got in on the action saying, “My expectations are the playoffs at the least, and I don’t see why we can’t get that,” Suh said over the weekend. “I think we’re all excited with what we have. What I saw from last year, even though we went 2-14, that we had a great offense, and the offense needs some help on the defensive side of the ball.”
I don't mind guys being confident in their abilities or setting high expectations for themselves and those around them. But when you're the Detroit Lions and you've branded yourselves with the prod of catastrophic ineptitude, you'd be better served to fly in under the radar. Let people do the talking for you, you just go play football and win games. The sporting news gave the Lions 3 wins this year. I'm gonna come in somewhere in the middle and go with 5. Although I could see 6 if all the major parts stay healthy.
PS - Hey Louis, five teams went 8-8 last year and none of them made the playoffs.

This shit needs to stop. Burleson said something similiar a few months back as well. You wouldn't be suprised if you won 8 games??? Your already conceeding atleast 8 losses. You are going to fail atleast 50% of the time at your job. Granted we know that this will not happen, but shouldn't it be the players job to expect to win every game?? I can't wait for Villanueva not to be surprised for the pistons to win 40 games next year and maybe make the playoffs. Yo Mmase, do you tell your principal you wouldn't be surprised if half your kids know how to play steal the bacon by the end of the year? Expect to win everygame and stop trying to gurantee being mediocre.

ReplyDeleteJust got off the phone with my vegas insider and the line is currently holding strong at 5.5 over/under win total for the Lions. Lions will will finish 7-9 this season. You heard it here first....and they will finish with a better record than the Bears....and Scott Mitchell will come back as the new Lions QB coach...Mark it down!
