MNF at Ford Field Is Gonna Be A Shitshow

The Detroit Lions have announced that due to the overwhelming response this morning for tickets to tonight’s game between the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants at Ford Field, tickets will no longer be distributed at the Ford Field Box Office. Anyone already holding a ticket to the Vikings-Giants game that was scheduled to be played in Minneapolis on Sunday will be admitted and given preferred seating in Detroit Monday night.

Fans with tickets to Sunday’s Packers-Lions game in Detroit can also use their ticket from yesterday’s game and will be admitted free tonight with no reserved seating. This is a first-come, first-serve event. Capacity of Ford Field is 64,500, and fans with Lions-Packers ticket stubs and general admission tickets distributed this morning are not guaranteed if stadium capacity is reached. Stadium gates will open at 5:30 pm. The game will be televised by FOX.

Do you seriously expect to give away free tickets in Detroit and not have a riot on your hands? Cause there is zero percent chance that this goes off without a hitch. I mean I admire Detroit for trying to provide their fans an opportunity to see the NFL product on a national stage while at the same time helping out the Vikings, but you're gonna have a minimum 10,000 homeless people coming just for the heat.

I heard on the radio that they handed out 25,000 tickets this morning in roughly 40 minutes. You gotta think that probably 40,000 will show up from yesterday's Lions/Packers game. That's pushing 65,000 before you even consider the Vikings/Giants fans who could make the trip. On top of it all they're making this general admission. You're gonna have people stealing seats left and right anytime someone gets up to take a piss. And anytime you start giving away "free" shit people get bonkers. I don't know what it is but if people think they are getting something for free they lose their shit when something doesn't go as planned. I hope they can get everyone in and it all works out but I got a bad feeling that it's gonna end up like a Target in Buffalo on Black Friday.
