Illinois & Oakland Play First 7:22 w/ Woman's Ball
Illinihq.com – As Oakland built a double-digit lead against Illinois, you figured something was out of whack. Who knew it was the ball. Before No. 16 Illinois outlasted Oakland 74-63 Wednesday night at the Assembly Hall, the teams played the first 7:22 with a women's basketball. One more time, for emphasis: The Illinois and Oakland men's teams played more than seven minutes with a women's basketball. The "Nike Elite" sphere was 2 ounces lighter and 1 inch smaller than a men's ball, and players could tell something was wrong. "It felt like a NERF ball," Demetri McCamey said. It wasn't until enough players made a ruckus that the officials took a closer look. Jereme Richmond noticed the women's ball had a "6" (for a women's ball) instead of a "7" (for men). Mike Tisdale told Bruce Weber, "Something's wrong with the ball." "I wanted to keep it," Oakland coach Greg Kampe said. "We were ahead. Just keep it out there."
Bahahahaha! C'mon guys, if I was in a game with a women's ball I'd be palming that shit and throwing it down like there was no tomorrow. Windmill dunks, 360 jams, the whole shabang. Gotta get your ass on Sportscenter and make that money real quick before anyone notices.
But seriously, how do you not notice this instantly?
