Wings 4, Ducks 0
Jimmy Howard had 21 saves and looked solid in his 4th career shutout.
Michigan Mike Modono scored on his first shot as a Redwing and provided the balanced scoring attack the Wings need.
Pavel earned top star with his Gordie Howe hat trick. And the extra terrestrial actually held his own against a much bigger Perry. There goes the Lady Bing.
Wings 3, Hawks 2
The second line scored all three goals including the game winner that slipped off Valtteri Filppula's stick and accidentally slide past Turco 5 hole.
Having to sit and watch the Hawks raise their Stanley Cup banner for nearly 55 minutes straight sucked. I especially hated watching Hossa be a part of it. Dude rides coattails better than anyone. Pretty sure his next team will be the Boston Celtics.
Wings 4, Avs 5 (Shootout)
This game was a wild one. The Wings looked like they were gonna run away with it a few different times but turnovers and less than stellar goaltending let them come back time after time. In the OT period Detroit should've put it away several times but couldn't capitalize. In the shootout Howard kept them in it but after every player on our roster got denied, Brandon Yip finally put one past Howard and won the extra point for the Avs.
Most embarrassing moment of the night was when Rafalski replacement Doug Janik got a face massage courtesy of Cody McLeod. All in all though it was a very successful first three games and despite a period here and there the Wings looked in mid season form. Here is a video of last year's best moments to wet your whistle on this off day.
