Is C.L. Rucker Really Gonna Get Off With A Slap On The Wrist After His Boozed Up Hit and Run?
EAST LANSING -- Michigan State senior cornerback Chris L. Rucker was charged early Sunday morning for operating while intoxicated. According to a ticket released by East Lansing police, Rucker was stopped at 2:19 a.m. on the 300 block of Grove Street in a 2002 Oldsmobile near a 7-11 store. He had a blood-alcohol level of .10. The ticket also said that Rucker, who turned 22 on Tuesday, received a warning for leaving the scene of a property damage accident. On the ticket, the boxes “damage to property” and “traffic crash” were checked by an officer. Rucker was one of 11 players suspended for last season’s Alamo Bowl for his involvement in an altercation at Rather Hall in November. He was one of 11 who faced misdemeanor charges. He pleaded guilty to one count of assault and battery in February and was sentenced to 12 months of probation and 150 hours of community service. MSU coach Mark Dantonio reinstated Rucker — along with three other players who pleaded guilty — at the beginning of spring practice. A fifth player who pleaded guilty was allowed back on the team after spring drills started.
A probation officer at East Lansing’s 54-B District Court could not be reached today to say whether the charge violated his probation. His OWI charge is a misdemeanor. Dantonio announced Sunday night that he had suspended Rucker for a violation of team rules, but did not specify the violation. Associate athletics director John Lewandowski said this evening that Dantonio’s statement about the length of Rucker’s suspension, which will last at least one game, remained the same. Rucker is expected to be arraigned by Oct. 20.
How is it that C.L. Rucker is only getting a 1 game suspension after a hit and run while he was drunk? Guy's already on probation for his part in the post Alamo Bowl brawl last year and now he goes pinballin his car down the street and you're gonna suspend him one game!? Dude should be in jail. If this was a Michigan player and Rich handed out a 1 game suspension people would be picketing outside of Schembechler Hall screaming for his job. But Dantonio does it and you don't hear a single person bringing it up. Well I'm brining it up. It sucks having to hold ourselves to a moral standard that is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain in today's world while the rest of the competition is rolling with Bloods and Crips in their secondary. There should be an preset consequence across the board for all D1 teams when it comes to things like DUI, assault, or domestic abuse. That way we don't have the Cowardly Lion and Sweater Vest handing out 1 game suspensions to their players, while UofM sits their guys down for 4 games at a pop when they forget to hand in their homework on time.

ReplyDeleteif this were a UM player, the only people lining up outside of Schembechler Hall would be UM fans both because they are mostly fair-weather walmart wolverines and nobody outside of Ann Arbor really cares about scUM football because their team is terrible. Rucker got off easy because people at MSU like their student-athletes and want to see these young men do well. they also want to win. stop littering the internet with your scUM grumblings, it's irrelevant.
ReplyDeleteWell said, Luke. This guy is a D-bag.
