It Ain't All Roses In East Lansing

Freep -- Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio announced this evening that starting cornerback Chris L. Rucker would be suspended for at least one game for a violation of team rules. Dantonio did not specify the nature of the violation but said that Rucker will be out for the Illinois game Saturday at Spartan Stadium. He did not say when Rucker will return to the team. “Well, we’ll see,” Dantonio said when asked whether Rucker’s suspension will last just one game. True freshman Darqueze Dennard will start in Rucker’s place Saturday. Dantonio opened his news conference by discussing the No. 13 Spartans’ 34-17 win over Michigan, then mentioned, in response to a question about increased national attention, that the team needs to “move forward.” “You can’t get complacent, and we’ll handle ourselves,” Dantonio said. “It’s maturity. With that said, I might as well tell you now that we’re going to suspend Chris L. Rucker for violating team rules, so he’ll be out next week. Lesson learned.” When asked what will be missed in Rucker’s absence, Dantonio simply said, “We’ll miss a corner.” Rucker, a senior, has 40 tackles, four pass breakups and one forced fumble in six games, and he recorded his first interception of the season in the U-M game.

Sounds like C.L. Rucker was lamborghini living after that big win in Ann Arbor this weekend. Was probably out at Rick's and rap videoing chicks with shark bowls.

  1. A friend of mine is a writer for the lansing state journal and said there are rumors that he got in a fight and may be charged with assault.

I don't think this is true though. I've also heard the team held a mandatory team meeting yesterday and he simply missed it. Based on Dantonio's "lesson learned" comment it sounds less severe than a fight and assault charges.
