Life Isn't Fair
I don't know what I did in a previous life to deserve this, but it must've been big. The way that the football gods continue to bend the Lions over is almost laughable. Everything about this feels wrong. You can read me the rule a million times over, I just won't ever be able to accept that Calvin didn't make this catch. Watch the play, it's two hands on the ball, two feet down. Then his second act is the palming of the ball with one hand and his ass and hip hitting the ground. That's when the play concludes in my eyes and at that point he maintained possession. When do you draw the line and say the play has stopped? The fact that he puts the ball on the ground and spins it with his fingers shouldn't matter because catching the ball and rolling on the ground should mean the play was over. Had he put the ball onto the ground and lifted his hand straight up off the ball instead of spinning it, this would be 100% a catch. Why isn't it a catch just cause he spins it? There's absolutely no difference.
I know its not a conspiracy but sometimes it just feels like "only the Lions" and I'm fuckin sick of that shit. If last week they asked would've asked me to predict who would lose there starting QB and also get jobbed on a controversial call on the last drive I would've said the Lions ten outta ten times. Cause this shit only happens to us. And it also feels like the NFL had all these meetings about this new rule and the first guy to make this no catch call would go down in history and instead of looking at this fairly to decide whether or not this was a catch, they just said "fuck it, it's the Lions". It's a pattern filled with a lack of respect and you can feel it each Sunday. Following the letter of the law to the degree that every single person disagrees and thinks an injustice has been done is just stupid. If this is actually the rule and that call was correct then they need to change the rule cause I'm increasingly losing interest in a league where to feet down and two hands on the ball doesn't equal a touchdown. My blood is boiling over this one. I got more for you later.
PS - Lions O-coordinator, Scott Linehan was jumping for joy when they said the call on the field was confirmed. Dude totally thought the call was a touchdown and the confirmation meant a Lions TD. So did I. The damn ref staring right at the play signaled touchdown and the entire time they were reviewing it I thought that they were looking for indisputable evidence that it wasn't a td. I kinda think Calvin did too.

Fuckin Jumpy Jeff Backus better not play another down for the Lions. How many times does he have to let a QB get rocked to lose his job?
ReplyDeletewhat are you talking about? Jeff Backus is one of those "Pro-Bowl" caliber left tackles that never makes the pro bowl cause he blows. Anyone see pettigrew yesterday? Kinda wish Michael Oher was out there. totallyfuckinbelievable
ReplyDeleteHAHA. Shwartz better switch up that pro-bowl mantra pretty quickly. I hope the team beats the shit out of Backus during the film session.
