It's Called A StairMaster Dantonio, Ever Heard Of It?
Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio's heart attack early Sunday morning shined another light on college football coaches and the intensity of their profession. The issue of stress was the talk of college football last winter when Florida coach Urban Meyer said he was retiring because of health problems only to return after a brief leave of absence. "You have to take care of yourself, but it's hard to get away from your job," Rodriguez said. "You don't leave the office, go home and leave your job at the office. That's not possible to do in this kind of profession." So how does Rodriguez keep up his health? Mostly through his own workouts, five days a week in the early morning on a StairMaster at Schembechler Hall. In the spring, he began lifting weights with U-M strength coach Mike Barwis and said he feels better now than he has in a long time.
Is this too soon? C'mon, you couldn't honestly expect me to go a whole week, or two days rather, without making fun of this a little. I mean if Dantonio just hopped on the StairMaster or pumped some iron with Michigan strength coach, Mike Barwis, every once in awhile this would've been totally avoidable. I just hope Rich shuts his mouth about all these extra workouts before Michigan gets slapped on the wrist by the NCAA with more violations. It's literally a case of damned by the NCAA if you do, damned by a heart attack if you don't.
