Introducing Lions 5th Round, Thought He Was Gonna Go Undrafted, DOUG Hogue
Allen Park— When it comes to projecting NFL talent, beauty truly does lie in the eye of the beholder. While numerous scouting sites and draft experts had Syracuse linebacker Doug Hogue listed as a seventh-round or free agent type prospect, the Lions saw enough to select him in the fifth round. "I didn't think I'd go in the fifth round," Hogue said. "I was just hoping to get drafted, maybe in the seventh round, just make the cut, you know? I am just happy it worked out the way it did." The Lions admit Hogue, 6-foot-2, 235, is a developmental player. He was recruited to Syracuse — by former Michigan defensive coordinator Greg Robinson — as a running back and only played two years at linebacker.
Bravo boys. Just taking guys we could've picken up as undrafted free agents for a Coney dog and a Vernors. Follett, a 7th rounder, was straight pissed that he didn't go in the 2nd or 3rd cause he was so confident in his ability. Now were stuck with Hogue who no one wanted to touch and is more suited to play safety than linebacker. Not to mention I'm a bit sceptical about drafting a guy recruited by Greg Robinson.
