Joaquin itsBENreal Out As 8th Inning Set-Up Man. Tigers Promptly Lose To Red Sox In 8th Inning
CBS sports - The Detroit Tigers signed right-handed reliever Joaquin Benoit to a three-year, $16.5 million contract this past offseason to serve as their eighth-inning bridge to closer Jose Valverde. In return, Benoit's provided them with three losses, a 7.98 ERA and 1.71 WHIP in 14 2/3 innings. He's been especially dreadful in his last six outings, having allowed 12 earned runs in five innings (that's a 21.60 ERA, in case you're wondering). In turn, the Tigers have made the decision to stop using him in setup situations, at least temporarily.
Totallyfuckinbelievable. All of it. Just totallyfuckinbelievable. Phil Coke throwing a 78 pitch, 7 inning gem in which lefties went 0-11. Totallyfuckinbelievable. Leyland replacing him with Ryan Perry just for the hell of it to start the eighth. Totallyfuckinbelievable. Perry getting the first two guys out on 7 pitches and Leyland replacing him with Max Schlereth who immediately walked the $142 million dollar anchor known as Carl Crawford and then gave up the game winning RBI double to Saltalamacchia. Totallyfuckinbelievable. Victor Martinez leading off the 9th with a double only to eventually be stranded on third after embarrasing strikeouts by Avila and Raburn. Just completely, undeniably, totallyfuckinbelievable.
