Oh Hallelujah, Lions Re-Sign Nate Vasher

With a work stoppage looming, the Lions have started to address their needs in the secondary which is guaranteed to be one of the more revamped parts of this team come next year. To kick things off they've agreed to terms and are bringing back Nate Vasher who played pretty well down the stretch last year. He's obviously not the final answer on the edge but with Chris Houston testing the free agent market it seems like a safe move at the moment. I also believe that the Lions will either move up to get Prince Amukamara or will find a way to justify taking Brandon Harris outta Miami or Jimmy Smith from Colorado, the next two best corners, with the 13th overall pick in April's draft. If their stock has fallen and they aren't considered to be top half of the first round guys then I think you see the Lions take someone like Akeem Ayers from UCLA to fill the void at linebacker. There are also a lot of people out there who think the Lions will go with the best available offensive lineman in the first round but I just don't see that happening. The Schwartz saw what a transformation this defense went through last year after adding a few key peices and he'll be way to tempted to add even more this year. With a couple free agents, and the the right draft picks, this defense could climb into the top 10 in the league.

PS - Sick Vasher highlight from when he was on the Bears.
