Chris Osgood Placed on Long-Term Injury List
Detroit -- The Red Wings could be heading to the playoffs without veteran goalie Chris Osgood. Osgood (sports hernia) was placed on the long-term injury list effective to 10 days ago, and general manager Ken Holland said the team plans to shut him down until the last game of the regular season. "We don't know Chris' status heading into the playoffs," Holland said. "He continues to experience soreness; we have to get him healthy. Right now, he's not close." The Wings recalled Joey MacDonald, who was sent to Grand Rapids on Tuesday, for tonight's game against Vancouver.
Going into the playoffs without Ozzie on the roster is like driving a Lambo with no insurance. And with the way the injury bug has bitten Detroit the last two years I keep having this recurring nightmare of Joey "old" MacDonald getting called to duty in the playoffs. Maybe Detroit should get BMOC on the roster just in case.
