Freep - Miles, who met with U-M athletic director Dave Brandon in Baton Rouge, La., on Monday night, will stay at Louisiana State. The official word came from Louisiana State right before 12:30 p.m. today. The school posted on its Web site that Miles had notified athletic director Joe Alleva this morning that he would remain at LSU.
Son of a fuckin bitch. I can't believe we lost Les Miles again. My jaw is honestly on the floor over here. I just hope to god the dude turned us down and we didn't just meet with him as a dog and pony show so it looked like we were conducting a national search, when all along Brady Hoke was our guy. Cause there's not a chance in hell you're gonna convince me that Hoke isn't a step back from Les Miles. You needed to bring someone in here that could break down the wall that has kept every great Ohio recruit in state for the better part of 5 years and there is just no way that guy is Brady Hoke. I know all about him rebuilding Ball State and San Diego State and being the kind of guy that can return Michigan to normalcy, but is that really where we want to be? It wasn't long ago that the normalcy of a Lloyd Carr two loss season had Wolverine fans in a fuckin tizzy. Bringing in Hoke to get us back to that level is understandable considering how low Rich Rod has taken us, but it also undermines the thought of Michigan's unmitigated greatness. Shaking things up with Les Miles would've shown the football world that Michigan was on it's way back, not just to the cusp where we left off, but to the top.
PS - As I was writing this I heard a rumor floating about that Michigan offered Miles less money than he is currently making at LSU. If this is true then it means Brady Hoke has been the guy all along and we should've gone and got him in early December so we could've still had a recruiting class this year. Seriously, what the fuck is Michigan doing here?
Hoke is the coach and was going to be since the moment Harbaugh said no. Why even talk to Miles if you are going to low ball him. You know what he makes(3.9Mil) why would he take less money to come to michigan that is a complete mess when he has a great team coming back next year. Brandon might be a huge idiot
