Brady Hoke Named Michigan's Man
Freep - Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon today hired San Diego State's Brady Hoke as the 19th coach in Michigan football history. “We are pleased to announce the hiring of Brady,” Brandon said in a news release. “He is a terrific coach and will be a great ambassador and leader for our football program. We look forward to having him build a championship program on the field and in the classroom.”
This hire obviously doesn't sit well with me but I'll save the rant for a later date because at the very least this whole fuckin circus is over for the time being. The big top and clowns set up shop in Ann Arbor 3 years ago when Les Miles and Greg fuckin Schiano both turned down the Michigan job and we ended up with Rich Rod as our ringmaster. After 3 years of Rich getting pie'd in the face, he eventually got stuffed in a clown car with Greg Robinson and rolled outta town as the rest of the country laughed at what a joke the Michigan football program had become.
Sad as all this was, all Brandon had to do to right the ship at this point was get one of two guys. Either making Jim Harbaugh the highest paid coach in the country or bringing in Les is More Miles would have sufficed. They both would've come to town with a handful of 5 star recruits and enough shovels to scoop out all the elephant shit left behind. Instead we go through this half ass charade of a coaching search and end up getting turned down by the only two real candidates that our "Michigan Man" criteria allowed for. Perhaps the most damming part about the whole situation is that Miles turned down the job twice in 3 years! If Michigan really was the football Valhalla that we all claim it to be then this wouldn't have happened. The fact it did should be humbling to Michigan fans. Hopefully Rich left a seltzer bottle and some big floppy shoes in his office cause the job of Michigan head coach has become a straight joke. I just pray to fuckin god that we get lucky on Hoke and this guy gets the Wolverines on their way back to that familiar role as Big Ten contender and national title longshot. Let's be real, beggers can't be choosers.
