Welcome To My Worst Nightmare: 28 People Stuck in a Subway Elevator

It's in the back of the mind of everyone who enters an elevator: What if I get stuck? That's exactly what happened to 28 straphangers who found themselves stranded inside an elevator leading to the 1 train at the 181st Street subway station in Washington Heights. The fire department came to the rescue about an hour later. NYC The Blog notes that there are no stairs to the station and the escalators have been out of service since February.

First off, this video is boring as balls so let me save you some time and just cut to the 3:14 mark and check out the one doable chick in the entire elevator. Secondly, every single one of these people deserves this for even entertaining the thought of getting into a subway elevator. I'd seriously rather make out with the homeless dude on the train who just woke up from his 3 day nap than step foot into this nightmare in a can. It's the perfect storm of my two least favorite things in life, germs and small talk with strangers. Oh, and fuck the people who claim they had to take the elevator cause there are no stairs and the escalators are broken. Pretty fuckin sure a broken escalator is stairs.
