T-Mac The Newest Bad Boy?

Freep - The Pistons will talk to McGrady’s representatives today on the phone to continue the process of gauging whether both sides think Motown should be the next destination for the McGrady, 31, as he tries to salvage his career. If McGrady and the Pistons get to the point of doing a deal, it would be a one-year contract for the league minimum which is $1.35 million for a veteran with 10 or more years of service. McGrady had a well-publicized tryout with the Bulls earlier in the free-agent period, but that won’t be the case with the Pistons. If he is signed, he would create even more of a logjam as he can play the same positions as Tayshaun Prince and Rip Hamilton and would seem to open the door for a possible trade of either of the long-time Pistons.

Doesn't this just reek of the Allen Iverson signing to you? If this move comes to fruition then we're right back in the same spot we were when AI arrived except there is no Lebron sweepstakes to partake in, not like we were a player in that anyway. It seems like we're just clearing cap room for free agents that don't exist or have no interest in coming to Detroit. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Tayshaun or Rip are the piece to build the team around but they never have been. They've always needed a game manager like Chauncey to pave the way and without him they're both lost but I don't blame them for that. Start by getting this team a legit point guard, not a 2 guard that is attempting to play the point, and we can go from there. But dismantling the team and buying time with these pruned up superstars is starting to get real old. T-Mac has struggled for years and there is a reason for that. Dude has a bionic knee and a bionic back for fuck's sake. Dropping Tay or Rip and replacing him with T-Mac is gonna give us 42 wins max and will leave us grasping for free-agents next year when there aren't a ton to be had. Joe D was way to preemptive in getting rid of Chauncey and we were left out in the cold when the real free agent sweepstakes took place. I know a Championship buys Joe D a lot of rope but if he isn't careful he's gonna hang himself with all that extra length. Unfortunately it's looking like we'll have to wait until next year's free agency to see where this team is actually going and if it's in the wrong direction then Joe should put his resume in at the Knicks and work alongside of Isiah because I'm done.

PS - T-Mac just had the same knee surgery that Mcdysee had before he became a Piston and if it means he's as hungry as Dysee then scratch anything I said above and bring him in. Dysee was the only guy on the Pistons even trying the last few years.
