I Wish My Dad Worked For The Tigers So I Could Play For Them

digitalsportsdaily.com - The Detroit Tigers used a sixth-round draft pick in Tuesday's major league baseball first-year player draft on Ricky Leyland, the son of manager Jim Leyland. Leyland insists though that his son won't be given preference just because his dad manages this big league club. "It’s about competition," Leyland told MLIVE.com "Either Patrick is good enough or he’s not. You find out if you are good enough. I’m not tough on him; I’m just honest. “I did not want to interfere with anything. Patrick can stand on his own two feet. We never pushed anybody to take him, and never asked anybody to take him. And Patrick was on board with that.” According to the report Ricky Leyland has until Aug. 16th to sign with the Tigers. The elder Leyland became a father to two children late in life, Ricky is 18-years old and his daughter is 16-years old.

First we gotta watch Alex Avila strike out every other at bat because his pops works in the front office, and now we're bringing 18 year old Patrick Leyland into the mix? If he can't hit I at least hope he rips back Marlboros all game long like his old man.

But lets do some math here. Jim is 76, his daughter is 16? That means he was 60 when she was born. Jesus, doesn't that freak anybody else out? He's just lucky these two didn't come out all retarded or disfigured.

Oh, wait...spoke too soon

PS - I hope she isn't retarded in real life. That would be harsh.
