Garrett Wittles Memorabilia On Sale Now

CBS Sports - CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Rockin' Robin will have to wait until next season, but Florida International shortstop Garrett Wittels can now identify a bit with Joltin' Joe. Wittels extended his hitting streak to 56 games on Saturday - the same number of Joe DiMaggio's major league-record hit streak in 1941 - but the Golden Panthers were eliminated with a 15-9 loss to Dartmouth in the NCAA Coral Gables regional. Wittels hit an RBI double in the first inning, leaving him two games shy of the Division I record set by Oklahoma State's Robin Ventura in 1987. Wittels' attempt to break the mark will resume next season. "It definitely means a lot," Wittels said. "Joe DiMaggio is one of the greatest players of all time." Wittels went 3 for 5 and finished the season with a .417 average and a FIU season-record 100 hits. He broke the previous school mark of 98 by Kenny Aderley in 1986.

This Garrett Wittles story just keeps getting better and better. Besides ESPN being completely smitten with this guy and giving him constant coverage throughout the streak, he now has to wait an entire offseason to see if he can get a hit in three more consecutive games to overtake Robin Venture who currently holds the record. But the real story behind the story came yesterday when I started jamming my room full of fans because my ball sweat had reached DEFCON 3 levels in this heat. As I strategically placed a fan that John Falls stole from a kid at Camp Laurel, I noticed it had the name "Wittles" written on it.

Now I knew that John was Garrett's camp counselor a few years back, fuck we're getting old, but I wasn't privy to the fact that we had a valuable piece of sports memorabilia on our hands. I'm about two seconds away from putting this thing on Ebay for a million bucks and just retiring from the smut game all together. The real selling point will be the story about Garrett jerking off into his t-shirt and then showing the entire bunk his jizm under the black light. I'm guessing i'm gonna get a call from 30 for 30 when they do the Garrett Wittles story.
