Tigers Wave White Flag on 2011 Season Already With Brandon Inge Signing

The Tigers and third baseman Brandon Inge have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with a club option for 2013, the club announced this morning. In 144 games this year, Inge hit .247 with 13 homers and 70 RBI. He topped American League third basemen with a .977 fielding percentage. “The Tigers organization is pleased to announce the signing of Brandon today,” team president Dave Dombrowski said in a news release. “Brandon is one of the top defensive third basemen in the game and a quality individual we are proud to have as a representative of the organization.”

You gotta be fist fucking me here. Is this real life? I know I didn't just read that the Tigers are bringing back Inge and his .247 average for two more seasons. Like seriously, why are we giving up on next year already? We got possibly the best player in the American league on our team and it's like Dombrowski is just mailing this shit in. God damn it Dave. Just cause Brandon already has an assigned parking spot and you don't wanna have to redo the parking assignments, doesn't mean you make him your starting third baseman. I mean while we're at it we should probably give Gerald Laird a 6 year extension too. Jesus. I can't believe we are giving Inge a dime to put on the Ole English D when we should be backing the Brinks truck up to Carl Crawford or Adam Dunn this off season? It's like we're waving the white flag already. The Twins and Sox gotta just be laughing their asses off at us.

PS - And anyone who thinks that Inge's glove is worth keeping him around can take the .977 fielding percentage and shove it up their ass until he stops battling for the league lead in errors every year.

  1. You had to know this was coming. I mean we signed Adam Everett last year before free agency even started, look how far he made it. Like lets try to go through free agency and maybe we can find someone that plays the positions we need to fill. Ok last year we didn't go after Orlando Cabrera (who is in the playoffs every year) and signed basically the same contract as Everett with the Reds. We also didn't go after Orlando Hudson who signed with the Twins when we needed to solidify a second baseman. I don't care if Everett is a better club house guy than Cabrera cuz Cabrera is better at baseball. Fuck this shit about how guys are great club house guys and lets get some guys that can play baseball. This isn't a popularity contest its baseball, although we are winning the popularity contest cuz the Twins and White Sox kick our ass every year they love us, it pretty obvious based on Gardenhire's comments that Bonderman is high on his popularity list so we should sign him too. Lets go out and get some guys that are hungry to win, not the same guys that have been on a sinking team the last 4 years.

Don't forget Carlos Gonzalez is a free agent

  2. 5.5 then 6 million...Are you fucking kidding me? He worth 2 mil at the most. The tigers should trade Raburn now because his stock cannot get any higher. He absolutely sucks when games actually matter and not to mention the hole in his glove for an everyday outfielder they said he would be in the article. Illitch doesn't stand for this medocirity with the Wings and shouldn't with tigers. If Babcock had 4 seasons in a row like the tigers just did he would have been fired at the end of year 2.
