Doctor JBS Is In - Follett Doing Well, Hill's Arm Still In 100 Pieces

Freep - Lions linebacker Zack Follett returned to Detroit today after receiving good news on tests for the neck injury he suffered in Sunday’s game at the New York Giants. Coach Jim Schwartz said it was “too early to tell” when Follett will return to action.

“The important thing is the CAT scan came back with positive results for us, for him,” Schwartz said at his news conference today. “The MRI came back with positive results for Zack, and he’s been able to move around and walk and been OK’d to travel. While covering a kickoff in the fourth quarter, Follett was injured on a helmet-to-helmet hit with Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul. Follett was immobilized and carted off the field. He spent the night at Hackensack University Medical Center. By the time the team was on the plane, some players had spoken with Follett by phone.

“He’s in very good spirits,” said linebacker Isaiah Ekejiuba, who talked with Follett on Sunday night. “He’s excited about just coming back and seeing the guys, just so everybody sees him, makes sure he’s all right.”

Looks like Follett is gonna be fine after his head to head collision with Pierre-Paul on Sunday. When I saw players gathering around the injured Lion during the 4th quarter it was evident that the injury was serious. Just real glad that Zack appears to be fine after getting checked out. The hit happened on a kickoff in the 4th quarter and I know I said it a few weeks back but having a starting LB covering kicks is bushleague and it speaks volumes about our depth. He shouldn't be out there rattling his brain around if you expect him to be an every down linebacker.

On a sidenote, does anyone else think it's weird that Isaiah Ekejiuba is Follett's best friend on the team? Seems like an odd couple to be popping bottles at the club together.

Now lets take a walk out of the Intensive Care unit and down the hall a bit, where we'll find Shaun Hill who fractured his non throwing arm on Sunday. Guy did a hell of a job making plays while he was in there and I don't have a bad thing to say about his time in Detroit. For some reason he has been the only quarterback capable of finding Calvin on a regular basis. It's just sucks to have him out because if Stafford comes back and struggles mightily or gets hurt again, despite what you saw from Drew on Sunday, Hill gives us a lot better chance to win as our back up QB.

PS - If I knew Zack was staying in NY overnight I would've let him crash on my pullout sofa.
