Wings Take Care Of Business Out West

Hot damn Redwings! They must know it's March Madness time or something cause the Wings have had a real affinity for the buzzer beater while on their west coast road trip. After taking down Calgary earlier in the week the Wings faced off against a lowly Edmonton team and fell behind 2-0 early. Patrick Eaves netted a second period goal to close the gap to one and then Brian Rafalski tipped home the game tying goal with tenths of a second left in the third. The Wings eventually fell to Edmonton in the shootout but grabbing that all important 1 point from a seemingly hopeless situation was huge.

The next night the Wings jumped on their snowmobiles and headed down the road to Vancouver. I was in Philly so I wasn't able to watch it live but the replay was just as good even though I knew they won in OT because I had no fuckin idea that they won with another buzzer beater! After a back and forth third period and overtime where it looked like each team had this won, Filpula dumped the puck deep in the zone where Zetterberg scooped it up at the hash mark and cut to the center. As the clock neared zero he backhanded a laser that went top tittie and left Luongo frozen with his head looking up at the clock praying time had expired. It hadn't and the Wings nabbed a much needed 5th point of the west coast trip. This puts them 2 points up on Calgary for the 8th spot and just 3 behind the Avs for the 7th spot with 11 games remaining.
