Guillen Pounds Pirates, W 6-3

Carlos Guillen reminded us what he used to be known for, reaching base in 4 straight plate appearances, including a bases loaded walk. Its nice to see that Dave Dombrowski's plan of locking Guillen in a hyperbolic chamber for the entire off season, so that Guillen's many injuries can finally heal, worked. Guillen has to be relieved knowing that he's only going to be stranded in left field every third game or so and gets to bat DH the other 2/3. I'm pretty sure he went in and negotiated for the Gary Shefffield special, although I'm sure there's a clause in the contract that he can only hit into 1/4 of the 1,000 double plays Sheffield hit into.

On the pitching side, Robertson's first start of spring was respectable with 2 runs over 4 innings with 5 strikeouts. Of course the Pirates have a guy, Brandon Moss, who has had zero hits in 19 plate appearances STARTING in left field, so take from it what you will. Ni and Bonine both pitched a hitless inning. Rainwater also pitched. And his name is still Rainwater. Awesome.

Netx up: Brandon Lyon (a better pretend pitcher than Dennis Quaid in The Rookie) and the Astros @ 1:05. I expect Valverde to hulk out of his jersey during this one
